Now Open: New Shops in Waco

I’ll admit that when I moved to Waco two years ago, I just figured I’d have to give up the hope of finding any trendy shops.  My  mind was immediately changed as I began to discover the boutiques around town.  And over the past year, there have been many new ones opening.  The newest places cover all shopping genres – from clothing to shoes to housewares and even antiques!

Fox & Gray – this shop is located in the newly opened Mary Avenue Market which also contains Iron Willow, and Good Timber Furnishings (plus Pie Peddlers and Hecho en Waco Mexican restaurant). This fun boutique has trendy clothing as well as jewelry and other accessories.

Savage Finds – As the name implies, this place is a treasure trove of all kinds of secondhand items! Their Facebook page claims they “buy, sell, appraise & repurpose antiques, vintage finds and other cool, rare and unusual items.”  This place deserves a weekly walk through as there is always something new to discover!

Gather – Another aptly named store, Gather is a store of inspiration! From their website, the owner Sara Martin writes,

“Gather is a collaboration of our passions: the Art of Hospitality.  We have a vision to inspire and enjoy the beautiful life.  Through our partnerships with local artists, we offer carefully curated items for hosting and entertaining at home.  We hope our unique selection of functional art will help you create a space you love–whether that be limited to one room or your entire house.

But Gather is more than just a store; our space is a place to celebrate community and share life with others.  At Gather our aim is to help you better share life with people, and we can’t wait to share that art with you.”

You can shop for beautiful home items or sign up for workshops in cooking, calligraphy, art, or even floral arranging.  Just grab a group of friends and sign up, or plan to make some new friends!

Waco Running Store – The members of my family are excited about running – well, those of us who are runners (not me).  This place will do a gait analysis of your stride as you walk or run on the treadmill to determine what type of shoes are best for you.  Cool, right?  Lots of quality brands and shoe options – plus you don’t have to climb up high to find them!
